Brief History

Farrar and Son was established in 1968 by Rowland Farrar. The business quickly developed and this success was attributed to its traditional values and customer service approach, an ethos which is still held today. Over 90% of our customers are either repeat customers or recommendations. Rowland’s two sons Graeme and Jeremy on leaving school undertook jobs within the building and related industries. These were outside the family business allowing them to gain first hand experience without the cushion of the family influence. Upon joining the business Jeremy and Graeme took on rolls which best catered to there strengths, Jeremy in the roll of “hands on” operational manager and Graeme as estimator and administration manager.

Although Rowland retired 9 years ago he can still be spotted with a saw in hand from time to time.
